(Or, "Has your father got a new bike?" Oh, how we laughed.)
(Or, "Why do you need another bike?" Thanks, Dad.)
OK; so what's this page got to do with Herne Bay or Whitstable? Nothing at all. It's merely an excuse for me to show off the toy. Or "Toys (plural)" now, to be more accurate. I'm just giving myself a little licence, that's all. |

This is Yamaha's official photo of my bike, a 2002 model TDM900. Other than that, giving you details of the technical specs would be rather pointless. It's quick enough for me, economical when ridden sensibly and just massively grin-inducing.
Oh, another thing (as Mark frequently reminds me); my bike is rarely as clean as this one. |
This, on the other hand, is the official photo of my other bike, a brand new 2005MY YZF-R6. Unlike the (mostly) docile TDM, this is most definitely an arse rocket. So yes, that might mean the (occasional) visit into slightly over the limit speeds. On closed roads, of course, officer. Already, I've found that my riding confidence has improved dramatically, as the handling is so much sharper than the TDM. But you lot are unlikely to be as passionate about it as me now, are you? |
(Right) I finally got around to getting a picture of me on the bike. This was taken at Ramsgate, on the hill leading down to the harbour. Note the new wannabee racing leathers, Valentino Rossi replica helmet and hopelessly optimistic knee sliders. |
(Left) This is see me showing off at Cadwell Park, back in March 2004. "Showing off"? Who am I kidding? I scared the life out of myself. I had to buy the new leathers specially, otherwise they wouldn't have let me onto the track at all. I wasn't sure if it was a wise decision or not at the time but I came away from the track intact and with a huge grin. I could never pretend to be Valentino Rossi, even if I do now own a Rossi rep helmet.

I have kept these photos in simply for my own nostalgic purposes. The first is of me trying out an R6 last year (almost a year to the day from actually buying one). The second was the other missile that Mark borrowed prior to taking delivery of his Triumph Daytona. Oh, what a bunch of motorcycling bores we are..... |
