These photos were reinstated following another request. Greensteds was the large butcher & fishmonger in Mortimer Street. The family-run business closed it's doors some time ago now but the shop remained as a variety of eating establishments. One thing that also stayed was the beautiful tiled facade. Sorry that this view doesn't do it justice.....

.....however, today, although the name has returned (almost - an "A" has been added), the tiling is gone. Or at least it's been covered up by this white faux panelled ply front. According to Mark, who's in the trade, those tiles were listed. I'm guessing that they were covered up as the new owners weren't allowed to remove them. Still, it seems such a shame.
