Where Herne Bay has Macari's, so Whitstable (well, Tankerton, to be accurate) has Valente's. I can't imagine planning rules would allow a firm to build a front like that nowadays. You could hardly call it seamlessly blending in with the property. This was a favourite haunt of my sister Ivy, in her youth.
