Venice (1)

I know; another non Herne Bay/Whitstable page. Cut me some slack, will you? Besides, it's my website.....
I have alluded to Cheryl elsewhere on this site. She came into my life in May this year and things have been going swimmingly, thank you very much. So much so, that at the end of June, we both took a short trip to Venice. We got the god-awfully early (06:10) RyanAir flight from London Stansted to Treviso airport, which is a 50 minute bus ride out of Venice itself.
What can we say about Venice that's not already been covered? Yes; it's just like it's shown in the brochures and the movies. A truly beautiful city. A 3-day visit was nowhere near long enough. Suffice to say we'll return. We'll have to take more money next time though; Venice is not cheap. That beer and a similarly-sized Diet coke shown in the top left photo cost twenty five Euros. And I thought drinks in the UK were expensive. Man; they saw us coming.

Down in one? St Mark's
They serve their beer BIG in Europe. This is what you get for asking for "large". And yes; that was serious sunburn.... Now to the standard views. This is St Mark's Square, with the Campanile on the far right.
Gondolas
Bridge of Sighs
There seemed to be plenty of these gondola things, too..... .....and here is the Bridge of Sighs.

We took the lift to the top of the Campanile (from the
